We are all very pleased with the top floor fit out in Cwmbran. The carefully planned layout has maximised the space available and visually it looks like a normal full height floor. The fit out teams were professional and unobtrusive. The fact there was very little in the way of snagging, is testament to their workmanship.
The ASUs are also well engineered and look very impressive.

In 2007 we at “The Store Room” embarked on an ambitious project to open six self storage facilities across the North West of England within a 12 month period, fitting out approximately 93,000 sqft of space, and installing three mezzanine floors across the various sites.

I first contacted Active in November 2007 and found Gareth Williams extremely helpful in helping me to work out a budget cost and feasibility study for the fit out. He also arranged for me to visit The Storage Team in St Helens so that I could meet and talk to another operator regarding the operation of their own self storage facility. Kevin Thompson the MD of The Storage Team was extremely open and gave my wife and I a lot of useful advice. Having seen Kevin’s set up we immediately decided to go ahead and started the new, purpose built, building in March 2008 taking advice from Active regarding the size and type of building to construct. After completion of the new-build in August 2008 we handed over to the experts at Active to design and implement the complete fit-out.
The new facility was ready just before Christmas and we officially opened in January 2009 with the facility being everything we hoped for and more. Since then we have continued to receive ongoing support from Active and PTI who have both been quick and efficient in the answering of any questions we have had, impressing me with the service levels of both companies. Business is probably building up a little slower than if we had started a few years ago but we are happy with the rate of growth, especially as we are learning as we go along. The centre has the capacity for 2 further phases of 10,000 sq ft each, which will take the total available space in the self storage centre to 30,000 sq ft, with a further 40,000 sq ft on long term leases on the site. All being well we are planning to start our second phase in the latter part of this year. I think the costs for the turnkey service Active provide are very reasonable compared to managing the project personally and appointing your own sub contractors. With this in mind, I would highly recommend Active to anyone considering a self storage project.

May I thank you and your staff for the superb job you have done for our museum in providing a new mezzanine floor for storage. The service from beginning to end was both speedily executed and done to a very high standard. Originally I did explore a very cut-price option for this mezzanine by checking on ebay for a used floor, however by the time this had been modified and fitted there was very little price differential between your quote for a new mezzanine and this option. Also the floor you fitted was also capable for supporting a large number of vehicles, therefore structurally much stronger than anything else I might have had fitted. I can therefore highly commend and recommend to others your team for their highly efficient service done at a price, which was extremely competitive.

On a walk around at the SSA trade show last year I happened upon Active Supply and Design where I was fortunate to meet Richard and Gareth. After a brief exchange of business cards a more formal meeting was arranged at our office in Rossendale where the first draft was produced which would set us on the road of transforming our 11000ft2 warehouse into a modern purpose built 22000ft2 self storage facility.
We felt confident to allow Active with their many years of experience to advise on just about all aspects of the build from major decisions such as unit sizes and fire prevention to what may seem mundane issues such as the siting of our company signs. Having agreed on the design, Active quoted a build time of 12 weeks which to me seemed a tad ambitious considering the amount of work and the number of separate contractors involved. Not only did the build progress without delay, the facility was actually completed early.
Active Supply and Design make a point of being accessible to the client and even today long after the build was completed we still feel we can call on them for advice, which is always forthcoming. Any building project can be stressful, especially when contractors find themselves having to work in an environment where existing business is still in progress, but due to the professional attitude and manor of Active Staff and contractors I feel confident and have recommended them to others considering similar projects.

The contacts Active gave me within the industry from the outset allowed me to forge links with people "in the know".
