Storage

Here at Ask Active we have extensive experience with self storage facilities and know exactly which components are necessary for your needs. This is why included in our "concept to completion” package for your self storage facility is an electrical system designed, supplied and implemented directly by us.

General and emergency lighting, sound systems, fire alarms and smoke detectors, we can respond to your needs rapidly and efficiently. Here is a bit more information on some of the electrical systems we can provide.

GENERAL AND EMERGENCY LIGHTING

General lighting is essential for the corridors of your facility to provide comfort and security to anyone using them. Our partitioning systems are designed in accordance with the requirements of general lighting and our corridor walls all stop around 50mm from the ceiling, leaving an adequate gap to let light diffuse in from the aisles reducing the amount of lights that are needed to be installed which reduced the cost of the installation.

With larger units generally over 150 sq ft, to help with customer visits we would recommend using an individual PIR (motion sensor) and light.

All of our lighting can be controlled in one of two ways, either by PIR (motion detectors) or via a switch. In today’s self storage industry, most facilities are designed to use the PIR system.

When designing your facility we also think about the emergency lighting and how people will be able to exit the building in an emergency involving power failure. This is why we design an emergency lighting schematic which lights up all designated escape routes and enclosures to facilitate safe access out into the open air.

FIRE ALARM AND SMOKE DETECTION

In the event of a fire your smoke detection and fire alarm systems will work together to ensure that it is discovered as swiftly as possible and that all persons in the building are able to be alerted so they can take action to exit the building safely.

All of our fire alarm systems are designed to B.S. 5839 part 1, which is enforced by local fire authorities and the building regulations and all electrical systems are carried out in accordance with the current 16th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations and certified in accordance with the relevant British Standards.
